High frequency d’Arsonval therapy, also called ozone therapy, is a cosmetic treatment where we use high frequency (300-500 kHz) current. It has antibacterial properties, disinfects skin and improves cell metabolism. It can be used as a part of anti-ageing (prevention), as an additional treatment to other procedures, or to prevent hair loss but most of all it is used for acne treatment.
High frequency therapy was invented in 1895 in France by doctor and physician Jacques – Arsène d’Arsonval who introduced high frequency electricity (which invented by Tesla) into medicine.
Nowadays, this method is commonly used for cosmetic purposes as it is not only very effective but also painless, non-invasive, and also quite relaxing.
It effectively cleans up and disinfects skin by using ozone (released during the treatment) which has antibacterial properties and kills most of the antibiotic resistant bacteria. This procedure also has the added benefit of improving micro-circulation.
It’s the perfect treatment for oily and acne prone skin and is used in acne scar, depigmentation, and sebum over-secretion therapy. It clears and constricts pores and regulates sebum secretion.
When used on the scalp it helps with oily hair, stimulates hair growth, and smooths out hair. It is used to treat seborrheic dermatitis and seborrheic alopecia. It is even used in dandruff treatment.
Its soothing properties are very often used after some invasive or skin irritating treatments such as micro needling or mesotherapy. It also promotes the absorption of active ingredients used during various treatments. d’Arsonval therapy is even recommended for itching, neuralgia and skin sensation dysfunction.
High frequency d’Arsonval Therapy is comfortable and completely painless. Before the treatment the skin needs to be cleaned and dried. During the treatment clients can feel a small tingling feeling, smell the ozone (which is released in contact the glass with skin), and hear some minor noise.
The treatment takes 10-30 minutes and it can be repeated weekly. To achieve satisfying results with d’Arsonval as monotherapy 15-20 treatments are recommended.
It is contraindicated for clients suffering from rosacea and for allergic skin.
Further contraindications are heart diseases, epilepsy, patients on anticoagulants and those with high blood pressure.
It is not recommended during pregnancy and for people with metal implants or a pacemaker.
